Current Sermon Series: We Are Family – the Challenges of the 21st Century

The family today is not the family of the 50’s and 60’s that some of us were raised in. The family today is not the family of the 70’s and 80’s that some of us raised our children in. The family of the 21st century has unique challenges that are new for husbands and wives, parents and children, brothers and sisters. In response to the recent showing of the movie, “To Save a Life” in which issues facing teenagers today were vividly and compellingly portrayed, it was decided that a series on the challenges facing today’s family would be appropriate and timely to run from Mother’s Day through Father’s Day and to the end of June. At times, this series will look at some gut-wrenching issues that are difficult to deal with. At times, this series will remind us of ageless truths that stand the test of time. Throughout this series, we hope to honestly and courageously give families – parents, children, young and old – hope and confidence that practical and relevant principles of faith can make a difference as we inspire and encourage our families to become all God wants them to be. This series will include:

1. Sunday, May 13th – Christian Family (Mother’s) Day “A Mother’s Love: Full of Hope”

2. Sunday, May 20th “Marriage: Making a Good Thing Better”

3. Sunday, May 27th – Youth Service “Challenges for Today’s Youth”

4. Sunday, June 3rd “Parenting Children and Youth – Part One”

5. Sunday, June 10th “Parenting Children and Youth – Part Two”

6. Sunday, June 17th – Father’s Day “A Father’s Job: Engaged and Effective Leadership”

7. Sunday, June 24th – Family Communion / Graduation “We Are Family – Generation to Generation”
